St. Peter's Basilica

St. Peter's Basilica requires a separate post because of sheer size and complexity of the building. While we had to explore the basilica after our 6 hour tour, it did not stop us from exploring the basilica more. From 400 tons of gold to Bernini sculptures to the final details of everything, St. Peter's Basilica left me speechless, and the only true way to appreciate it is to experience it yourself. But, here are a few pictures to get a good idea.

P.S. Some facts about the basilica:
-It took over 100 years to build
-Built upon the hill that St. Peter died and named for him
-Over 60,000 people can fit into the basilica
-It is the largest church of the Catholic faith
-Michelangelo and Bernini were involved in the construction and design
