Welcome to La côte d'Azur!

Nice was absolutely amazing. We stayed at Ville Saint Expuery which is an old monastery converted into a hostel. After only 2 nights, we had just scratched the tip of the iceberg, but do not worry, we still we are able to spend a few hours at the beach soaking in the sun. I definitely recommend spending at least a week here exploring the old flower market, the old port, the beaches, and the surrounding towns. Nice is definitely on my list of towns to revisit.

La Biennale di Venezia

La Biennale took up most of the remaining time we had in Venice. In short, la Biennale is an international world's fair for art. It is one of the most prestigious cultural institutions in the world, and it has been around since 1895. I took numerous pictures, but I figured I would give you the link to site and post only the pictures I liked the most. So, here is the link to the la Biennale and the pictures below highlight my favorite artists.

Water buses in Venice

The first thing we did in Venice was taking a water bus to our apartment. Talk about a different experience with the public transportation being comprised of boats instead of buses or trains.

Our Day Hike

The five towns of Cinque Terre are connected not only by trains but also hiking trails. The trails take you up and down and around providing beautiful views of the approaching towns, mountains, and water. We enjoyed the hike very much, and here are pictures from our journey on the trails.

By the water in Cinque Terre

I could have spent hours looking out over the water in Cinque Terre. The water is crystal clear and so blue that you can see the little fishes swimming and become hypnotized by the motion of the waves. Despite the cool weather, we still managed to go for a quick dip.
